Product Engineering Technician
Kubota Canada Ltd. (KCL) is hiring for a full time Product Engineering Technician. This position will develop and introduce products, equipment, attachments & problem solutions relating to tractors, construction equipment, turf products and utility vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in market studies of new product design requests and understanding of the competitor position and products.
- Manage projects through prototype stage, testing and evaluation, final approval and production follow-up. Includes preparation of all required documents such as bilingual operator’s manuals, parts manuals, technical support manuals as well as engineering approval documentation.
- Provide training and technical support of the new products to KCL employees as required.
- Coordinate and manage in-field testing including cold weather testing and evaluation of products as requested. Includes preparing competitive machines for product comparisons.
- Assist the Kubota Corporate Engineers in the understanding of Kubota Canada’s customer applications and product requirements to ensure that the new product is appropriate and of the highest quality and performance possible.
- Maintain accuracy of information in Smart-BOM, compatibility, pictures, labor times.
- Maintain compatibility charts for referencing by all departments, as required
- Provide quick response and appropriate actions to resolve technical issues on existing products.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of technical college – a Technician license in Farm Equipment or Heavy Equipment is strongly preferred.
- 5 years of experience at dealer level preferred
- In depth knowledge and hands on experience with engines, power trains, hydraulics, electrical systems as relates to agricultural, turf and construction machinery.
- Bilingualism is an asset – communicating with vendors, dealers and customers.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills and listening skills
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with engines, power trains, hydraulics, and electrical systems as they relate to agricultural, turf and construction machinery
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good computer skills (experience with Excel, Word, diagnostic software)
- Able to work with minimal supervision & be a positive and contributing team member
- Some travel required, up to 30% travel, with travel opportunities across Canada, the USA and internationally
- Must have a willingness and passion to learn new skills and continue to challenge themselves in the work environment as an individual and as a team
